Crothall Achieves Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) Certification for 8th Consecutive Cycles, Marking 16 Years of Certification
Certification emphasizes Crothall’s commitment to safety, cleanliness, and quality in support services
WAYNE, PA—FEBRUARY 3, 2026— Crothall Healthcare was awarded the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) certification for the eighth cycle, this time with the highest honors, from ISSA, the world’s leading trade association for the cleaning industry. The recognition shows that Crothall Healthcare teams have the necessary processes, procedures, and supporting documentation in place to meet client needs, while also addressing the heightened demands of cleaning for health and safety.
“The CIMS certification affirms our promise to protect the health and well-being of patients, residents, and care teams through creating and maintaining exceptionally clean environments,” said Mike Villani, Chief Executive Officer of Crothall Healthcare. “Being the only support services provider to earn eight cycles of CIMS now with the highest sustainability distinction sets our teams apart and reinforces our leadership in service delivery.”
CIMS is the first consensus-based management standard to define the essential traits of a quality cleaning organization. Sophia McCrae, VP of Operational Strategy, Crothall Healthcare, said, “Crothall’s approach to innovation is deliberate and embedded in our processes. This certification recognizes the systems we’ve built, where sustainability, technology, and standardization work together to drive measurable improvement and long-term value.”
To earn CIMS certification, a facility service provider must meet all mandatory requirements and at least 60% of recommended elements per section, verified through an on-site review by an ISSA-accredited third-party assessor.
“Compliance with CIMS means a cleaning organization has the modern systems in place to deliver professional cleaning services, which is crucial for moving forward post-pandemic in today’s competitive market,” said ISSA Director of Education, Training, Certification & Standards, Brant Insero. About CIMS and ISSA
CIMS sets forth a management framework designed to assist building service contractors and in-house cleaning departments to develop and maintain quality, customer-focused organizations. The standard is nonprescriptive, meaning that each organization has the flexibility to choose the most effective ways in which to meet its requirements. CIMS was created through a true consensus-based process that brought together representatives of the cleaning, facilities management, and purchasing communities. ISSA speaks at numerous facility management and purchasing industry events throughout the year to outline the value of working with CIMS certified cleaning companies as well as certifying in-house operations.
