Crothall Healthcare Launches Experience-Driven Pediatric EVS Program to Enhance Patient Experience

Crothall Healthcare has launched a specialized pediatric experience program focused on environmental services best practices to support children’s hospitals nationwide, with the goal of creating fun, thoughtful, and welcoming experiences for young patients. 

By focusing on “recurring moments,” the program delivers a continuous series of cheerful, warm, and meaningful touchpoints for children and teenagers throughout their stay. 

“We are focused on providing excellent service to our hospital partners and as part of that, we believe every interaction is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference,” said Mike Villani, CEO of Crothall Healthcare. “In pediatric environments, those interactions carry even greater weight. Our teams are trained not only in industry-leading cleaning and infection prevention practices that create safe, healing environments, but also in delivering compassionate, human-centered service. This program empowers them to go beyond the expected, to bring comfort and joy to a patient’s day.” 

Crothall Healthcare’s EVS best practices for pediatric hospitals and units complement Morrison Healthcare – its sister sector – and its pediatric dining program launched in November 2025, which features healthy, age-appropriate menus for infants through teenagers, alongside special, experience-driven moments for patients and their families. 

“This program creates a powerful opportunity for our team members to connect with patients in ways that go beyond traditional service,” said Grant Randall, Compass Healthcare’s National Director of Consumer Experience. “By intentionally designing moments that spark joy and ease anxiety, we’re helping transform the healthcare experience into something more personal, uplifting and memorable.” 

Notable elements of Crothall’s program include celebrating birthdays with decorated rooms, handwritten cards from EVS teams, and small gifts; recognizing medical milestones with balloons, certificates, or keepsakes. The program also extends to siblings, honoring them with “Super Sibling” recognition, access to supportive resources, and small tokens of appreciation for their role. 

In addition to milestone moments, the program introduces daily touches designed to spark joy, such as playful “wet floor” signs shaped like bananas, character-themed housekeeping carts, and trash collection bins wrapped to resemble toy trucks. 

Monthly engagement activities further enhance the experience, including collaborative art displays, themed room makeovers, and storytelling sessions led by team members or volunteers. Crothall also hosts special events each month that engage patients beyond a housekeeper’s day-to-day interactions.
