Hallmark Health Wins National Award for Excellence in Sustainability

Joseph Caban, Director of EVS at Melrose Wakefield and Lawrence Memorial Hospitals, reported that Hallmark Health System was awarded the 2011 VHA Leadership Award for Sustainability Excellence in Innovation and Impact.  This award is given to organizations that have achieved exceptionally high levels of performance based on national performance standards. Specifically, Hallmark Health received the honor for its comprehensive programs and investments to reduce waste and decrease energy consumption. Joseph, co-chair of the Green Committee, and his team were instrumental in the numerous energy reduction initiatives, infrastructure improvements, waste disposal efficiencies, new linen and recycling programs, and ongoing staff education that resulted in a “greener” healthcare system.  Joseph will be attending the national conference in San Diego for the presentation of the award.
