Florida Hospitals and Orange County Schools Partner with Local Charity to Teach Work Skills

A recent news report called “Real World Experience for Students on Local Channel 6 featured an out-of-classroom experience that will teach Orange County High School Seniors valuable work skills at two area Florida Hospitals. Quest charity organization’s Project SEARCH initiated the program for students with special needs to learn jobs that would support them living and working on their own.

Crothall Healthcare Director of Environmental Services Doreen Greaves is interviewed about the students’ work in her housekeeping department. It’s a win/win for both hospital and students: staffers who are replaced by the students can spend more time on patients while students get valuable hands-on experience. Quest Director Carlos Jiminez says that he’s seen the students build confidence in job tasks as well as social skills within the first few weeks.
