Make A Difference

A nurse's frantic call alerted General Services that a patient's family heirloom wedding ring had inadvertently been thrown in the trash the night before.

The patient was beside herself with grief over losing the ring, which had been given to her by her recently deceased husband. The team worked with the local sanitation company to set up the fully loaded trash compactor to be safely inspected bag by bag. Shift Lead Ynes Rosales's good humor was infectious as she and the search party attacked the mound of garbage. Six-and-a-half long hours later, one of her crew yelled, "I found it!" Sure enough, upon carefully inspecting the bag, Ynes found the patient's belongings, along with the missing ring. After washing and folding the patient's clothing and meticulously cleaning the valuable wedding ring, she proudly presented it to the patient and was showered with tears of gratitude. Her nominator goes on to say, "This story is just one of the many examples of Ynes' commitment to excellence and exemplary customer care at Lehigh Valley Health Network, Cedar Crest."
