Make A DifferenceA Google employee received a bridesmaid dress in a FedEx package, which she accidentally left propped up against a trash can for several days. Eventually, a member of the janitorial staff mistakenly threw the box away. The employee didn't realize the box was gone until that Friday, and she had a fitting that afternoon, with the wedding the following day! Anna Simon led a frantic search. After an unsuccessful preliminary search of the dumpster outside, Anna called the trash collection company, which was able to track down the truck driver only two blocks away from his arrival at Google to collect the trash! This last-minute effort made it possible to take a closer look in the dumpster. At that point, Doug Stoddard stepped in, equipped with latex gloves, a ladder, and a broom. He scavenged to the bottom of the dumpster and found the FedEx box-with the dress still inside. An entire week's trash (including dirt and lawn clippings) had to be removed to find the box. Thanks to the hard work of the Eurest Services team, the employee got her dress back, still in excellent condition. Even in the midst of a very busy day devoted to an entire office relocation, the Facilities team saved the day again! |
