Make A Difference

A recent patient in the Emergency Department at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville described one person who went above and beyond to really make an impression on her. She described being in the waiting room of the ED, where she sat covered with blood. Housekeeper Roxanna West came to her aid, helping her get the blood off her hands and arms and giving her washcloths and a towel.

Afterwards, when Roxanna came into the patient's room to empty the trash, she found her crying. She held the woman's hand, comforted her, and prayed with her. Later, when the plastic surgeon came to consult with her, she requested Roxanna be called into the room to comfort her through the scary and difficult conversation.

The care Roxanna gave her was "one of the most amazing experiences of her life." She was not sure she would have made it through her surgeries and treatments without the love and support Roxanna showed her.
