Make a Difference WinnerThe "Make a Difference" recognition is a way for us to highlight those individuals who take it upon themselves to create a special memory for a patient or visitor. The action does not have to be flashy or heroic, and it usually takes place totally outside the employee's official responsibilities. In the middle of the Housekeeping Week celebration, Pamela Carson took part in the festivities, enjoying the spread of food provided for the employees. As she started her shift that afternoon, she noticed a visitor in her unit waiting for a loved one to be discharged. Pamela went about her work as normal, but around 7pm, she noticed that the visitor was still waiting. She went back to the party, made up a plate of food, and brought it to the visitor. More important than any of Pamela's cleaning or other responsibilities that day was this simple gesture of providing care for a stranger. |
