Crothall Momentum

Environmental Services-

National Standardization Program

Crothall has grown based on the success of not only its people, but also its superior systems and programs. In an ongoing effort to provide the highest quality to clients, Crothall has appointed National Training Director, Rich Feczko, to head up a National Standardization program. This program will take a look at the best cleaning practices and products being used, and then ensure that they are used consistently throughout the country. This important project will have a great impact on the quality of Crothall's programs, and will ensure that while the company grows, it maintains its leadership in providing quality service.

Laundry & Linen-

Energy Generation Project in the Works

Crothall Laundry Services, in its continuing objective to be a responsible corporate citizen and introduce operational measures to reduce costs, has launched a project at its California laundry facilities to explore generating its own electricity. Should this project prove successful, both Crothall's La Mirada and Ontario operations will generate approximately 80% of their electricity requirement on-site with specially designed equipment. The plan calls for Crothall to be able to manufacture its own electricity at approximately 10% less than market rates and will result in a significant kilowatt hour demand reduction from the local utility providers, helping to alleviate current statewide consumption stress.

Patient Transportation-

Launching Safe Patient Handling Program

Handling patients is one of the most dangerous activities performed by nurses and technicians, resulting in back injuries, workers' compensation claims, lost days, replacement and retention challenges, and diminished quality of life. In fact, healthcare workers rank as the #1 profession for musculoskeletal disorders as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2004. In response, Crothall has launched a program in which specially trained transporters take over these responsibilities. A recent study shows that this "zero lift" program has been universally successful, providing both relief to the nursing staff and financial benefits to the hospitals. Indirectly these programs can increase patient satisfaction, nursing retention and recruiting, employee morale, and most importantly, safety for patients and staff.

Facilities Management–

Record Sales Activity

In October, Crothall completed the purchase of Bio-Medical Services, Inc. (BMSI). This establishes a presence for Crothall in the southeast US for biomedical services, providing a great opportunity for add-on services to Crothall's existing account base in the region. This acquisition broadens Crothall's size and capabilities, and along with the purchase of Kinetic, positions Crothall for strong future growth. This growth has already started to occur, according to Division Vice President, Steve Carpenter. This is the most sales activity that the Crothall team has ever experienced in the Facilities Management division. Many new customers are being added, strengthening not only Crothall's bottom line, but also its position in this market.

Business & Industry-

Managing Growth Crothall's

Business & Industry division continues to manage its growth, after more than tripling in size over the last two years. In an effort to deliver the highest quality programs to its commercial clients, B&I has acquired management talent from Crothall's healthcare division, bringing on two regional managers with almost 20 years of experience between them. In addition to strengthening the organizational structure for operations, the sales team is restructuring under the leadership of Compass Group VP of Sales Frank Lombardi, whose proven experience selling to national accounts will enable the division to continue its fast pace of growth over the next several years.

Crothall Cares —
The Holidays Provided Many Opportunities for Giving

OCTOBER was Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Crothall’s corporate office helped spread awareness throughout the month by making donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, wearing the symbolic pink ribbons, and recognizing the day by wearing pink clothing.

NOVEMBER – We started the Holiday Season off by making food basket donations to the local Salvation Army. Our goal was to make 10 baskets, but we actually filled 18! Baskets consist of the traditional Thanksgiving items: turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc.

DECEMBER – During December we participate in a toy drive for children. This year we will provide over 100 gifts to children in our community, through the Salvation Army.

MAKE-A-WISH – This year, Crothall will make a substantial donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in our customers’ names. This special organization does remarkable things for young children. Crothall’s gift will help bring hope, strength, and joy to four courageous children in need.
