HLAC Accreditation

Beginning in 2007, Crothall Laundry Services has pursued accreditation for all of our laundry processing facilities throughout the country from the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC). Becoming accredited is an entirely voluntary process.

HLAC Mission

HLAC's mission is to publish high standards for processing healthcare textiles and to provide an inspection and accreditation process recognizing laundries meeting these high standards. Nearly all of Crothall's laundry facilities have received accreditation, with a few remaining locations awaiting inspection in the upcoming months.

HLAC Standards

The Standards cover the complete textile processing cycle, from handling and transporting soiled healthcare textiles, to in-plant processing and delivery back to the customer. The Standards also cover many basic considerations, such as facility layout, personnel training, and customer service. Special attention has been directed to some OSHA required practices, including Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Standards.

Benefits of Accreditation

An HLAC-accredited laundry has demonstrated that:
• Its managers understand and follow key government mandates for handling, processing, and transporting healthcare textiles. In particular, the laundry is following OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard to the letter.
• Its facility is designed and maintained to provide for the health and safety of its personnel.
• Its personnel who handle healthcare textiles are properly trained.
• It follows recommended “good industry practices” in its systems, policies, and procedures that will provide the consistent delivery of healthcare textiles in the quality and quantity expected by the customer.
• It is committed to excellence and challenging itself to meet the highest industry standards.

Benefit to Customers

The principal benefit to the healthcare customer is the knowledge and confidence that their textile provider is meeting or exceeding the highest standards for processing healthcare textiles in the industry, including strict adherence to federal government regulations and guidelines.The customer can expect a consistent and smooth flow of clean textiles.
